FAQ

You'll find answers to the most frequently asked questions here on this page.  But if you'd like to ask us something that isn't covered here, please drop us a line at prolifictalentmanagement@gmail.com

Are your books open?

Yes, our books at Prolific Talent Management are currently open for actors over the age of 18, however we are unlikely to offer representation to actors in casting brackets we already have on our books at this stage, if we think there is too much of an overlap with existing clients.

If you would like to apply for representation, please send us your Spotlight link and a covering message via the email address above.

While we cannot guarantee we will be able to make you an offer of representation, we do carefully read and consider all applications, and we aim to respond to all the requests we receive. (However, we may not reply immediately, so please bear with us).

Do I need to be on Spotlight to be represented?

The short answer, if you want to be taken seriously as an actor, is yes.

The long answer is, if you are new to the acting industry, and you are not already on Spotlight, then as a Spotlight accredited agency, Prolific Talent can make a recommendation to get you accepted.

If you are applying for representation and you are not yet on Spotlight, you will need recent, professional headshots, and we would need to see evidence of your acting performance. So please include your showreel or acting footage to support your application, and two contrasting self-tapes demonstrating your casting type.

Can I have more than one agent?

Prolific Talent offers personal management, which means we provide sole representation, covering  all areas of the entertainment industry. It is not possible to be represented by more than one agency for personal management. However, in certain circumstances, it is possible to have another agent covering a specific area of work (for example, voice over or modelling), as long as it is clearly defined which areas of work each agent is covering. Please note, however, that Prolific Talent Management clients cannot have a separate commercial agent.

Do you represent actors based overseas?

At the present time, Prolific Talent only represents actors based in the UK and Ireland, we are not currently able to represent actors without a base in the British Isles.

Do you specialise in a certain area?

We cover all areas of performance, and many of our actors are versatile performers who work across stage, screen and audio. All of our actors must have showreel footage and professional credits in order to be represented by Prolific Talent. We prefer our actors to have some level of screen experience, even if theatre work is their preference.

Are you registered with the PMA?

Not yet. The PMA requires agents to have been operating for at least two years before applying, so we are not yet able to apply for membership. However, we do intend to apply in future, and in the meantime, we are familiar with, and aim to comply with the code of conduct and industry standards set out by the PMA.

We're also looking into the possibility of membership with other governing bodies while we wait.

What are your commission rates?

Our commission rates are listed in our contract, which is sent to new clients when we make them an offer of representation. They vary depending on the type of contract and how it was sourced, and fall within expected industry standards.

As performers ourselves, our contract includes lots of "actor friendly" clauses, and has been personally curated to offer our clients the fairest contract possible, that we ourselves would want to sign.

Will I be able to see my Spotlight suggestions?

Absolutely, yes. We offer full transparency using agency software called Tagmin, which we have set up so that our clients can see all of their Spotlight suggestions via an app.

What if I source my own work?

We actively encourage our clients to be proactive, to network, and to source and create their own work.

We have built clauses into our contract to take this into consideration, and we offer what we believe is one of the fairest contracts there is.

Do you represent other types of creatives, as well as performers?

Not yet, but we have plans to expand our services to include directors, musical directors, writers, composers, and other creatives. (Watch this space).

Is it compulsory to attend acting classes?

No, there is absolutely no pressure or obligation to attend acting classes with The Actors Workshop Nottingham, or to create showreel footage through our screenschool, but we do offer the opportunity for those who want to.

Many of our clients choose to continue their acting training with us, and often see the value of adding to their showreel footage through our screen acting retreats, but it's not compulsory. We see it as an added bonus that we are in a position to represent some of the actors who train with us, it means we get to know our clients better and witness their career progression firsthand.
